About Izzy and The Tumble Thunder
With a furious temper, mysterious visions of the future and a missing dad, it’s no fun being Izzy Latimer.
She’s too scared to make friends and doesn’t want to stand out, yet she knows she’s special.
On her 13th birthday, she’s gifted a mysterious pocket watch – a Tumble Thunder – and her life is changed forever.
Can she complete the Tumble Thunder, find her dad and escape the clutches of the murderous Time Shadow in order to realise her true destiny?
Meet The Characters
A super smart but lonely girl, Izzy doesn’t know where she fits into life. She avoids the popular kids at school that she calls the Phoneys, and has such a terrible temper, she’s given it a name: the fuzziness. When she loses control of it, things happen that she can’t explain.
Alongside that she has visions of the future she can’t explain and feels, deep inside, that she is special. Living with her mum above an old clock shop in West London she longs to be reunited with her missing dad and understand what’s happening to her.
He’s after her… Exhausted and beginning to weaken from travelling through time in his hunt for the last remaining Time Child, the Time Shadow is a dangerous and murderous assassin. He has sworn a duty to kill Izzy and will stop at nothing to make sure he does. She won’t be his first victim.
Strong and dependable, Jane has been left to care for Izzy since her dad mysteriously disappeared at Stonehenge. She helps Professor Wigglesworth run the Clock Shop, which is underneath their flat in Foubert’s Place, next to London’s famous Carnaby Street. She does everything for Izzy but holds secrets of her own. She always puts Izzy first.
Missing and feared dead, Robert is Izzy’s hero. He’s an adventurer with piercing blue eyes and a charismatic smile who began training Izzy in the art of fixing clocks and pocket watches when she was still at primary school. He went missing during the family’s annual trip to Stonehenge for the summer solstice, when he went for a coffee, never to return.
The Professor is a loveable character who runs the Clock Shop in Foubert’s Place, and always has a story to tell. Impeccably dressed he oils his beard and moustache every day, but struggles with a painful hip. We don’t know how old he is, but Izzy figures “really old”. He is always on the lookout for a bargain and isn’t afraid to con tourists into buying fake antiques.
Porter is in Izzy’s year at school, but he’s the tallest. It’s what earned him his nickname Tree Trunk. Kind and gentle, he doesn’t have many friends himself and takes a shine to Izzy, who he quickly befriends and begins to protect. He’s funny too – and is always, always hungry.
